Relax, Philly. This type of danger isn’t related to weather. We may have unforgiving heat, dense haze that turns the sun red like an alien-planet, and violent thunderstorms that light up the night sky. But we aren’t sitting a foot of Mount Vesuvius seeking cover from molten lava (at least it’s not in this week’s weather forecast.)

The Philadelphia Eagles continue Training Camp once again this week with as much talent as any Eagles team in history. The front office has once again masterfully organized a talent pool that has captured three NFC Championships and two Super Bowls in the last decade. And they remain a relatively young team thanks in part to another stellar draft-night even ripping a top draft-selection from the near-grasp of their cross-state rivals in Makai Lemon.

But what lies beneath is a ticking clock and a closing window that the Eagles must take advantage of.

The team’s nucleus featuring a carefully-crafted talent pool is aging. Linebacker Zach Baun is now 29. His defensive coordinator (by all accounts — nearly retired this off-season.) Vic Fangio may only be with the Eagles for a year or two more.

On offense — this next season will most likely be the last for Landon Dickerson and Lane Johnson to be together on the offensive line. When Lane Johnson does finally retire — it won’t just signal the end of the Chip Kelly Era. Like his good friend Jason Kelce — it will mark the end of the careers of one of the finest offensive lineman in Eagles history and a future Hall of Famer.

The Eagles offensive attack features Jalen Hurts in his seventh NFL season, Saquon Barkley in his ninth, and Dallas Goedert also beginning his ninth. And while Hurts may have decades to play ahead of him — he is now also a veteran. He’ll begin this September running a new offense with yet another offensive coordinator while all the while trying to prove to the national media that he isn’t just one of the finest quarterbacks in Eagles history—but a top signal caller in all of the NFL.

In the Eagles backfield is one of the finest running backs in franchise history — who will be turning 30 in less than a year and a tight end who is also now 31 years of age.

The 2026 Philadelphia Eagles are currently a +1600 to win Super Bowl LXI in California. They are one of the best teams in the NFL and in franchise history. And despite a senior status for some superstars — are still perennial contenders this year.

The question — is how many more chances will this core group get? Like the rest of us on planet earth — these Eagles aren’t getting any younger.

Not only do the Eagles have a chance at a championship in 2027. For this talented team as we know the full roster today — it may just be a group running out of chances to win another together.
