A fellow Patriots wide receiver described watching Doubs “float to the moon” to make one of his catches.

Romeo Doubs was New England’s splash free agent signing before the team eventually traded for A.J. Brown as well this offseason. Since the latter acquisition, Doubs has gone relatively under the radar in the Patriots’ receivers group.
Doubs hasn’t been bad by any stretch, but he hadn’t quite been sticking out while others, like Brown and Kayshon Boutte, have made their presence felt strongly.
Prior to Saturday’s practice, Vrabel attributed Doubs’s slow start to simply learning a new system. And Doubs responded in the following hours with his best stretch of play in training camp so far.
“New offense, new year, figuring out the player, getting to know him,” Vrabel told reporters. “A lot of positive things trending in the right direction [with Doubs].
Mike Vrabel believes #Patriots WR Romeo Doubs has put together some strong practices as of late:

“I think he found where Rome can really help us and be big, and fast, and aggressive. I think that showed up in some practices that you saw. It’s just figuring out what they do best, seeing what you can realistically improve, and then put them in those spots to help build their own confidence and then also a place where they can help the football team.”
Doubs had multiple highlight-reel grabs, including one where he leapt high over the head of defensive back Charles Woods to make the catch.
Kyle Williams was asked to describe what he saw on that play, and his answer was simple.
“I saw him float to the moon.”
Doubs is coming off a few productive seasons in Green Bay as part of a packed receiver group. His role now is a little bit more defined, as he’s the clear-cut wide receiver No. 2 behind Brown. And with Brown demanding attention from top opposing corners, Doubs might be able to thrive in his own matchups.
He certainly proved capable of that against the second and third corners on New England’s depth chart. Carlton Davis was burnt by Doubs, as well as Woods, on the touchdown grab.
