Mailman has been an example of excellence in performance on Australian television, theatre and cinema for nearly forty years.
The TV WEEK Logie Awards today announced one of Australia’s most acclaimed and trailblazing performers, Deborah Mailman AM, is a Hall of Fame inductee this year. The honour will be presented at The Star Sydney and will be live and exclusive on Channel 7 and 7plus tomorrow, Sunday 16 August.
The TV WEEK Logie Award Hall of Fame recognises outstanding and continued contribution and enrichment to Australian television culture by an individual, a group of individuals, or a program. Deborah becomes the first person of First Nations descent to be inducted into the Hall of Fame, and the sixth female recipient of the Award since its inception in 1984.

Deborah’s contribution to Australian storytelling and the nation’s cultural identity is profound and enduring. This induction into the TV WEEK Logie Awards Hall of Fame celebrates not only a remarkable career spanning film, television and theatre, but also a lifetime spent bringing courageous, complex and deeply human characters to Australian screens.
With a career spanning nearly three decades, the celebrated Deborah Mailman has helped redefine Australian storytelling, becoming the first Aboriginal actress to win the Australian Film Institute Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role for her performance in Radiance. She went on to become a household name as Kelly Lewis in the beloved series The Secret Life of Us, earning back-to-back TV WEEK Logie Awards for Most Outstanding Actress in a Drama Series in 2002 and 2004.
From her heart-stirring portrayal of Bonita Mabo in Mabo, to her scene-stealing turns in Rabbit-Proof Fence, Bran Nue Dae and The Sapphires, Mailman is a dramatic force and a beloved national treasure. Her work as Cherie Butterfield in Offspring endeared her to a new generation of viewers, while her roles in Redfern Now, Cleverman and Mystery Road further cemented her standing as one of the country’s most compelling actors.
Deborah’s influence has had a meaningful impact far beyond the screen. Her leading role as Senator Alex Irving in the acclaimed political drama Total Control earned her a sixth TV WEEK Logie Award for Best Lead Actress in a Drama in 2024. This year, Mailman features as Susan Sinclair in the Stan Original series Dear Life, nominated for Best Drama Program at this year’s TV WEEK Logie Awards. She was named the 2003 NAIDOC Person of the Year for her contribution to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and storytelling. Appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for services to the performing arts, she continues to be one of the country’s most respected and celebrated public figures.

To mark an epic 70 years of Australian television tomorrow night the TV WEEK Logie Awards will induct three recipients in to the Hall of Fame, with the other two revealed during the show. Robert Irwin will host this year’s TV WEEK Logie Awards exclusively on Channel 7 and 7plus from 7pm.
