Fenway Sports Group is expanding its portfolio with the acquisition of a team set to play in the WTGL, the new, tech-forward women’s professional golf league created in partnership with the LPGA.
The team will compete as Boston Common Golf — the same name as the men’s team, also owned by FSG, that has played in TGL since 2025 — and will be one of WTGL’s five teams when the league begins its first season in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., this fall.
“At FSG, we’ve always believed in investing early in ideas with the potential to grow and evolve the sports landscape,” FSG partner Linda Henry said in a statement. “WTGL is a natural next step, and we’re proud to bring Boston Common Golf to the league and another world-class team to New England fans.”
Henry also is the CEO of Boston Globe Media.
The WTGL team also will be part of the Common Ground initiative, Boston Common Golf’s community platform dedicated to expanding access to golf across New England, with a focus on creating more opportunities for girls and women.
TGL, which stands for Tomorrow’s Golf League, and WTGL play a high-tech, indoor version of golf that features teams of top players from the PGA and LPGA tours for weekly head-to-head competitions broadcast in prime time. Every shot is live, and every player is mic’d up.
The WTGL’s current roster features 14 players, including six of the world’s top 13, and the league expects to announce additional players ahead of the inaugural season.
Massachusetts native Megan Khang is among the committed players, though team rosters have not yet been announced.
The four previously announced WTGL teams are owned by Arthur M. Blank and AMB Sports and Entertainment (Atlanta Drive Golf Club); Alexis Ohanian (Los Angeles Golf Club); Steve Cohen and Cohen Private Ventures (New York Golf Club); and Michael Hamp, Peter Hamp, and Kevin Kelleher (Motor City Golf Club). Each ownership group also owns a team in the TGL.
“Boston Common Golf brings an established identity, a passionate fan base, and an ownership group with a record of growing iconic sports properties,” said Mike McCarley, the founder and CEO of TGL and WTGL parent company TMRW Sports. “Adding FSG and Boston Common Golf strengthens WTGL as we build a premier platform for women’s team golf in partnership with the LPGA.”
