Todd Monken continues to speak highly of Deshaun Watson anf Shedeur Sanders as they battle for the QB1 job.
The Cleveland Browns have yet to find out who their starting quarterback is, as Deshaun Watson and Shedeur Sanders are battling for the job. Both offer skills that the Browns would love to have at QB1, but only one of them will be able to go out on the field to lead the team when the season starts.
Todd Monken may have a hard job figuring out who wins the job, but he’s been satisfied with what he’s seen from both Watson and Sanders.
“I’ve been impressed with both players and the way they’ve handled the back and forth of the reps, and we’re trying as best we can to balance the reps so we get both of them an opportunity to showcase their skill set,” Monken said. ”It’s never gonna be perfect, and they’ve handled that great.”
“Shedeur today was great. Maybe Saturday he would have preferred to be with the ones. I’d be pissed if he wasn’t. All of our guys should want to be with the ones. But they’ve been great, and I think they’ve both improved. Even the last week or so, Deshaun has played better. He looks better. He’s made better decisions. I think some of that grows, like all of us, as they have success, right? Their confidence grows with the success that they have every day.”

With the preseason opener on the horizon, it’ll be interesting to see who gets the starting nod for the game, and that could tell a lot about how Monken is thinking. At the same time, there are three preseason games, and things could definitely change from now until the start of the regular season.
Both players seem to be playing at a high level in training camp, and it’s safe to say the Browns might have a good problem with their quarterback room.
