New England was unable to generate offense, even after the club debut of Jack Harrison.

The Revolution lost 2-0 to the Houston Dynamo at Gillette Stadium on Saturday.
Goals from Guilherme and Agustin Resch were enough to spoil the debut of Revolution Designated Player Jack Harrison (who officially signed with the club in late July).
Here are a few takeaways:
A crowded start
New England began in what has become a standard 4-2-3-1, with an identical lineup for the third straight game. Harrison started on the bench, with Marcos Zambrano in again at left wing.
Houston opened in a version of 3-5-2, content to sit relatively deep and pack the midfield.
Searching for space, New England frequently drifted out wide in the attack, with many of their best moments — including an early Peyton Miller shot on goal — coming initially from wide spaces (Gil played the pass to Miller from his favored spot on the right wing).
Dynamo find a breakthrough
Though neither team can close to establishing control over the game in the opening 45 minutes, Houston was able to grab the opening goal thanks partly to a moment of disorganization from New England’s defense.
Centre-back Mamadou Fofana was caught upfield after initially making an interception, and was unable to clear before a cross wound its way over to Guilherme at the far post. Unmarked, Guilherme was able to apply a skillful finish that fully punished New England’s poor defensive discipline.
Harrison makes his debut
New England’s latest Designated Player signing entered the fray in the 55th minute for Zambrano. Though still in preseason form (having not played meaningful minutes in months), he nonetheless looked lively.
Harrison was unable to help the Revolution in the short term — his crosses were fractionally off on a few occasions — but flashed the potential that New England sought when the club signed him.
As his fitness grows, so will the expectations. But for a debut (amid a disappointing overall result), it wasn’t too bad.
Houston puts the game away
Having successfully found answers to every question that New England’s attack asked of them for most of the game, Hostuon continued to contentedly play on the counter for the duration of the game.
The fruits of this strategy were revealed in the 63rd minute when the Dynamo doubled their lead off a corner kick. Resch popped up at the back post to nod home from close range.
An increasingly desperate Revolution attack — even when equipped with reinforcements in the form of Diego Fagundez’s first appearance since May — found no openings in what was ultimately a disappointing day for New England.
