Boston police have not publicly identified the victim.
A man was fatally shot in Dorchester Wednesday morning, police said.
Around 10:15 a.m., police responded to a report of a person shot near 564 Blue Hill Ave., the Boston Police Department said in an alert.
Officers found a man suffering from apparent gunshot wounds, police said.
Witnesses told WBZ that the victim was shot several times before entering an apartment building “looking for help before he collapsed.”
The victim, who has not been publicly identified, was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
The investigation into the shooting remains ongoing by Boston police. The department asked anyone with information to contact the Boston Police Homicide Unit at 617-343-4470.
