Newcastle have appointed Matthias Jaissle as the club’s new head coach following Eddie Howe’s departure.
The German has signed a four-year deal, with Newcastle having to fork out £9.5million in compensation to Saudi side Al Ahli.
Jaissle won back-to-back Asian Champions Leagues with Al Ahli and will be in charge of his new squad for his first match on Saturday against Valencia.

Jaissle has managed in Europe before with RB Salzburg, guiding the Austrian side to back-to-back Austrian titles.
Newcastle chief executive David Hopkinson said: “Matthias is one of the most exciting and highly regarded young coaches in football and I’m thrilled to welcome him to Newcastle United.
“We have conducted a thorough process, and he has emerged as the clear candidate for the role. He possesses all the qualities we were looking for.

Jaissle takes over from Howe, who guided Newcastle to a League Cup and European football.
