Following on from a purrfectly amazing season last year, CatVideoFest is back!
For cat lovers, and anyone who’s entertained by animal antics, CatVideoFest brings together a compilation reel of the latest and best cat videos from unique submissions and sourced animations, music videos, and classic internet powerhouses.
With 2 cats, Queenie and Edmund, and Errol the greyhound to complete my zoo at home, I was feline super keen to see this! (Yes, the pecking order is Queenie first and Errol last. She regularly punches him in the head with a punch that Tim Tszyu would be proud of, even though Errol’s 35kg. And yes, if I ever videoed that, I would have submitted it!)
Oscilloscope Laboratories and Director Will Braden have brought together videos from all over the world for our entertainment. They are categorised into different sections – Action, Comedy, etc – to give an idea of what’s next. I can’t help myself, I am still on edge when I see a cat being chased by another, and then the sheer relief when you see them get over the fence in time! And then I snort-laugh watching the looks on their face! Cats really just have a whole amazing way of defying gravity, pulling faces and escaping by a whisker.
Naturally, no animals are harmed – this whole idea doesn’t come from a place of chucking an animal around for the likes. To double down on that, money from your ticket goes to support pet charities. You get to laugh and to feel good about where your money goes.
I did wonder if I could sit absorbed by cat videos for a movie-length period of time (as if I don’t doomscroll cat videos at home for hours). At just over an hour long (70 minutes even), it doesn’t feel like it’s too long or too much – it’s the perfect amount of time to take some time out and be entertained.
There are any number of reasons to go and see CatVideoFest – cat videos are snort laughingly fun and entertaining, we all need time out from our lives for something silly, and our entertainment helps raise money to support animals in need.
In cinemas for a limited season 13-16th August so don’t paws or you’ll miss it!
