More than 600 young kickboxers from across the UAE competed at the UAE Youth Kickboxing Championship in Abu Dhabi.
The event attracted 607 male and female athletes from 51 clubs, with competitors taking part across 96 weight categories at Mubadala Dome, Al Jazira Club.
The three-day championship ran from July 31 to August 2 and was organised by the UAE Muay Thai and Kickboxing Federation.
Athletes competed in four disciplines. Point Fighting and Kick Light bouts took place on the tatami, while Low Kick and K-1 contests were held in the ring.
Preliminary bouts were staged on Friday, followed by the semi-finals on Saturday and the finals on Sunday. The competition followed regulations set by the World Association of Kickboxing Organizations.
Fahad Al Abdouli, Director of Sports Activities at the federation, said the number of entries showed the continued increase in kickboxing participation across the UAE.
He said domestic championships give young athletes regular competition and a chance to improve their skills while representing their clubs.
The federation also said 40 athletes of determination would take part during the final day in cooperation with Special Olympics UAE.
Al Abdouli said their involvement supported the federation’s work to make competitions more inclusive and strengthen its partnership with Special Olympics UAE.
The event follows other national competitions aimed at developing younger athletes, including the UAE National MMA Championship in Al Ain.
