I’ll be the first to admit, the novelty of winter is starting to wear off. By the time July arrives, I’ve rotated through my favourite knits, jeans and coats so many times that getting dressed starts to feel a little uninspired.
That’s why the mid-year mark is often the best time to invest in something new. I’m not encouraging you to buy an entirely new wardrobe, but there is merit in a few mindful purchases that breathe new life into what you already own. A denim shirt (I’m eyeing off one from Matteau) can turn your favourite pair of jeans into a Canadian Tuxedo. Red cargo pants from Reformation inject a little bit of vibrancy – literally – into a season that can lean heavily into neutrals. And swapping out your work tote for a beaded bag from Staud gives a little bit of oomph to your morning commute.
Of course, July also marks the beginning of Europe’s peak holiday season, and for many Australians, that means swapping wool for linen and coats for swimwear. For the lucky few heading somewhere warmer, I’ve included plenty for you too – from aquatic-inspired jewellery that begs to be worn by the sea, to linen sets made for aperitivo hour.
