“It would be fair to say that Sanders must improve everything, as there’s no particular area in which Sanders truly excelled last season,” Ben Solak wrote.

Sanders must show he has more game in 2026.
“If Sanders is to succeed at the NFL level, he needs this throw in his bag: the quick-release vertical ball against one-on-one coverage,” Solak wrote. “It will be hard for him to create explosive plays otherwise. He doesn’t have special play-extension ability as he’s a below-average mover for the position without elite size to shrug off contact. He doesn’t have the special arm talent necessary to drive the ball late into downfield windows, either.”
That’s a lot of stuff to overcome. At least new head coach Todd Monken is giving Sanders a chance to win the job in the battle with Deshaun Watson, according to cleveland.com.
“The easiest way for me to say that, and it still won’t stop you from asking, not you particularly, but everybody in general, is the first game,” Monken said when asked when he’ll announce his QB1. “We’re going to have to have a starter for the first game, right? I mean, ultimately, I’m not going to decide who the starter is. They decide by their play. Their play decides who the starter is.”
Monken also said the job is wide open, according to a YouTube post by the Browns via NBC Sports.
“Yeah, nothing’s really changed,” Monken said during his Wednesday press conference. “We anticipate alternating. First of all, all four quarterbacks are going to compete. They all won’t get equal reps. Obviously, we will alternate, just like we did in the spring, Deshaun and Shedeur with the ones.”
