Endemol Shine Australia has turned to former Canva executive Jessie Hughes to lead its newly created Innovation Lab.
The new division will focus on emerging technology, production workflows and content formats as the production company explores new ways of making television and digital content.
Part of global content giant Banijay Entertainment, Endemol Shine Australia is behind local productions including MasterChef Australia, Lego Masters Australia, Australian Survivor and Big Brother.

The move signals a broader focus on how emerging technologies can be incorporated into the development and production of screen content.
Hughes joins as Senior Vice President of Innovation after working at Canva and its generative image and video platform Leonardo.Ai, where she helped drive the adoption of creative technologies.
She will establish and lead the ESA Innovation Lab, which will work across television production, digital content, social formats and post production, while also exploring new intellectual property opportunities and commercial models.
Endemol Shine Australia Chief Executive Officer Peter Newman said Hughes’ combination of creative, technical and commercial expertise made her well placed to lead the company’s new Innovation Lab.

Speaking about the appointment, Hughes said the Innovation Lab would provide a space to explore how technology and storytelling can come together to create new opportunities for creators, producers and audiences.
