Elijah Wood joins star-studded Supanova Adelaide lineup this October

Adelaide’s biggest weekend of pop culture is getting even bigger, with The Lord of the Rings star Elijah Wood confirmed to appear at Supanova Comic Con & Gaming when it returns to the Adelaide Showground from October 30th to November 1st.

Making his first Supanova appearance since 2019, Elijah will join previously announced co-star Sean Astin for a special Lord of the Rings reunion, giving fans the chance to meet the actors behind Frodo Baggins and Samwise Gamgee. Elijah will appear on Sunday only in Adelaide before heading to Brisbane the following weekend.

Elijah has also starred in Peter Jackson’s Academy Award-winning fantasy trilogy, Wilfred, Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency, Sin City, Yellowjackets and Happy Feet. More recently, he’s appeared in Ready or Not 2: Here I Come and the animated adaptation of Among Us.

Across the festival, Elijah will be joined by fan favourites Jed Brophy and Stephen Hunter, with Jed recognised for his many roles across The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies, along with The Rings of Power. Stephen is best known for playing Bombur in The Hobbit films and has also appeared in Thor: Love and Thunder, Heartbreak High and The Messenger.

Beyond Middle-earth, Supanova has assembled another impressive line-up spanning television, film, gaming and animation.

Firefly stars Alan Tudyk and Gina Torres will appear alongside Star Trek: Strange New Worlds actor Anson Mount, while Australian favourites Mitchell Hope, John Jarratt and Lincoln Lewis are also set to meet fans across the weekend.

David Bateson, the unmistakable voice of Agent 47 from the Hitman series, will also make an appearance, while anime fans can catch Faye Mata, whose credits include Konosuba!, Fate/Apocrypha, League of Legends and Street Fighter 6.

X-Men fans won’t want to miss Lenore Zann, who reprises her iconic role as Rogue in the hit Disney+ revival X-Men ’97, while Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles co-creator Kevin Eastman will also make an appearance alongside acclaimed comic artist Freddie Williams II.

With celebrity panels, autograph sessions, cosplay competitions, artist alleys, gaming zones and exclusive merchandise all part of the three-day event, Supanova continues to be one of Australia’s biggest celebrations of pop culture.

Organisers have also teased that even more celebrity announcements are still to come ahead of the October event.
