Brookside Avenue L14
I drove by my old home on Brookside Avenue today.
I had a quick glance… but then I had to turn away.
I loved that house, more than you will ever know.
Brookside Avenue has a hold on me and won’t let go.
A double fronted house in the corner of the square.
So many fantastic times, I had while I was living there.
My girls were young, we had animals Binky and Kim.
In our lovely enormous back garden, we all played in!
It had a trampoline, a paddling pool, swing and a slide.
At the far end, there were trees, where I used to hide.
Springfield Park was near by, where we took Kim to play.
And my hero Sir Ken Dodd, didn’t live that far away!
I spent the best years of my life in that house for sure.
The bitter sweet memories I have will last for evermore.
