If you’ve ever needed an excuse for a family-friendly winter road trip to the Fleurieu Peninsula, this might just be it.
The Willunga Almond Blossom Festival is back this Saturday, July 25th and Sunday, July 26th, bringing more than 50 years of family tradition to the Willunga Recreation Park.
Running across two days, the festival transforms the recreation park into a family fair with show rides, circus performers, camel and pony rides, an animal nursery, live music, market stalls and plenty of food and drink to keep everyone happy. Plus, there’s a packed program celebrating the region’s famous almond blossoms, local producers and community spirit.
One of the biggest highlights is Saturday night’s spectacular fireworks display, lighting up the sky above the oval from 7pm, weather permitting.
Food is set to be a major drawcard, with everything from wood-fired pizzas and burgers to Asian street food, carnival favourites and sweet treats on offer. Local beer, wine and other beverages will also be available throughout the weekend.
For those who enjoy browsing local makers, the festival’s popular market stalls will once again showcase handmade gifts, jewellery, candles, woollen winter accessories, artisan cards, preserves, baked goods, plants and more.
Of course, almonds remain the star. The long-time favourite Almond Cookery Competition returns, inviting home bakers of all ages to showcase their best almond-inspired creations. Entries will be displayed throughout the weekend in the Almond Hub, giving visitors the chance to admire the creativity of local cooks.
New for 2026 is The Great Almond Community Bake-Off, encouraging schools, clubs, businesses and community groups to team up and create an almond-themed bake that reflects their personality and community spirit.
Competitive visitors can also test their skills in the annual Almond Cracking Competition, taking place at 1pm on Sunday.
Outside of the festival grounds, visitors are encouraged to explore the stunning almond blossoms that have become synonymous with Willunga each winter. Self-drive and picnic maps highlight some of the best blossom viewing spots around the region, making it easy to turn the festival into a full Fleurieu weekend getaway.
With wineries, cafes, galleries, boutique shops and beaches all within a stone’s throw, it’s the perfect excuse to spend a little longer exploring one of South Australia’s most picturesque regions.
Entry is affordable, with family passes from $30, adults $12, concession and student tickets $9, children $6 and kids under five admitted free.
