Athiya Shetty has aced the wedding guest wardrobe with her sartorial choices for her close friend and actor Akanksha Rajan’s wedding festivities. While she wore many looks during the multi-day event, the one that has earned a permanent spot in our collective memory is the ivory-coloured anarkali look from Rohit Bal designed by the couture house’s current creative director, Fraze Tasnim.

The sleeveless organza silk anakali drew upon a look from the label’s Fall/Winter 2024 collection, Kaaynaat—the last collection by designer Rohit Bal. The anarkali features a snug-fitting bodice with a Queen Anne neckline and a cut-out in the back, finished with floral motifs embroidered with delicate thread. The silhouette flowed into panelled kalis, each embroidered with abstract floral spires that rose gracefully from the hem. Shetty paired the anarkali with a matching churidar and layered it with a sheer dupatta embroidered with Rohit Bal’s signature nature-inspired motifs, including florals, horses, cranes and foliage.
The hero element of the ensemble was the gemstone encrusted neckpiece. The navratna neckpiece featured nine precious and semi-precious gemstones sourced from Chandigarh-based jeweller Anmol Jain. Shetty further elevated the look with diamond stud earrings from Mumbai-based jewellery house Irasva Fine Jewellery and thread-and-sequin embroidered juttis from Delhi-based footwear label Needle Dust. A tonal organza potli bag featuring floral hand embroidery accented with pearls and finished with a kiss-lock clasp by Mumbai-based designer Meera Mahadevia completed the monochromatic ensemble. The beauty look was kept minimal, mirroring the ensemble with a dewy skin with defined lashes, blushed cheeks and nude lips, courtesy of Simran Gidwani. Hairstylist Kunj Sharma styled Shetty’s hair in a sleek fishtail braid.
