The admission process for Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) in Uttar Pradesh for the 2026-27 academic session has commenced, according to the State Council for Vocational Training (SCVT). Online registration began on July 11 and will remain open until August 4.
Admissions are being conducted entirely online through the official SCVT Uttar Pradesh portal, and there is no offline application facility. Candidates can apply for government ITIs, including institutes operating under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, private ITIs, or both categories together.
Selection will be based solely on merit drawn from marks obtained in the qualifying examination, and there will be no written entrance test, according to the notification.
ITIs offer trade-specific vocational courses for students who have completed Class 8, 10 or 12, depending on the trade. The courses usually run for one to two years and include trades such as Electrician, Fitter, Welder, Mechanic, Plumber, Wireman, Turner, Draftsman, and Computer Operator and Programming Assistant.
To be eligible, applicants must be at least 14 years old, and there is no upper age limit. Most trades require candidates to have passed Class 10, while some basic or short-term trades are open to Class 8-pass students. Applicants must also be permanent residents of Uttar Pradesh and will have to produce a valid domicile certificate during document verification.
The admission process includes online registration with OTP-based mobile verification, submission of personal, academic and category details, uploading of required documents, and payment of the application fee. Merit lists will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained in the qualifying examination, the government notification added.
After the merit lists are published, counselling and seat allotment will be held in multiple rounds depending on seat availability. Candidates who do not get a seat or their preferred trade in the first round will be allowed to take part in subsequent rounds.
Reservation benefits for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes will be provided as per state government norms. SCVT has advised candidates to check the official portal regularly for updates on schedules, fees and eligibility requirements, as these may be revised through official notifications.
