Chickadee in South Boston will be closing its doors on July 18th

After eight years in the Innovation and Design Building, Chickadee will be closing its doors with its final service on Saturday, July 18th. This is disappointing news for the neighborhood.  Located at 21 Dry Dock Ave, serves lunch and dinner featuring local farm ingredients with a Mediterranean twist. Chef John DaSilva was nominated for Best Chef in the Northeast.  This is disappointing news. We’re not sure if it’s the location that was part of the decision to close or maybe it was just time. The following message was posted on Instagram:

A Note from All of Us at Chickadee:

Dear Friends,

Eight years ago, we opened our doors at the Innovation and Design Building with a simple hope: to bring you honest, delicious food and a warm place to share it. What we found instead was a community – regulars who became friends, first dates that turned into anniversaries, celebrations, quiet lunches, and everything in between. You made this restaurant so much more than a place to eat.

It’s with a full heart (and yes, a few tears) that we’re announcing Chickadee will be closing its doors, with our final day of service this Saturday, July 18th.

Before we go, we want to see you one more time. Come by this week for a last taste, a last toast, and a last “hello” at the bar. Bring your favorite server a hug. Order the dish you always order, or finally try the one you’ve been meaning to. Consider these next few days our farewell tour – and you’re all invited.

Thank you for every reservation, every recommendation to a friend, and every kind word to our staff. Thank you for growing with us. This restaurant was built by our team, but it was made home by you.

Thank you to Boston and the Seaport District for giving Chickadee a place to grow, and to @chefjohndasilva and @tedkilpatrick for bringing their vision of really good food and genuine hospitality to life and sharing it with all of us.

Thank you as well to the chefs and cookbook authors whose work inspired our Cookbook Club dinners, and to everyone who recognized and celebrated Chickadee’s work over the years. Every honor meant more to us than we can say.

And, of course, thank you to the chickadees themselves, the small, curious, social birds that inspired our name and the spirit of this place from the very beginning.

We can’t wait to see you one last time before Saturday.

With so much love and gratitude,

The Chickadee Family

Stop by and show them some love before they close officially.
