“We made life very, very difficult for ourselves today. The result is fantastic; we’re in the last four. It’s amazing. I’m not happy with the performance.
“In every sense. The commitment is there, but we made life very, very difficult for us in the way we played, how we played. Sloppy, tactical mistakes, not fast enough. Not repetitive enough. We were lucky enough.
“We will get better; we need to get better. Now it’s celebrations. Now it’s taking it all in. We need everything to make a better performance,” he told ITV.

Thomas Tuchel: ‘It is time to give it a go’
England boss Thomas Tuchel has called on his players to “give it a go” tonight, with the Three Lions favourites against Norway.
“I hope the players feel good and they feel prepared. Now it’s their moment. They know everything. It is time to let go and release our energy and give it a go.
“We need to play with a freedom. We need to play all in. That is what a quarter-final is for.
“I want to spend more time in the opponent’s half. To break that down, we need to be in a better high press so we can win the ball back higher up, or we need to play well in deep build-up to overcome their high press. They are the steps we have to take, especially in these conditions,” he told ITV.

Bryan Robson: ‘England will beat Norway 2-1’
Former England manager Bryan Robson has backed the Three Lions to beat Norway tonight 2-1.
“When I think of the teams who can win the World Cup this year, I think it’s France and Spain and Argentina because they’ve got Lionel Messi.
“England are going to be up there among the favourites, but Norway will be a difficult game because they’re a strong, well-organised team who can sit behind the ball, defend really well and then pick you off with Martin Odegaard and Erling Haaland. They’re going to be a real threat.
“It should be an interesting game, and another one where England will need to work hard to break them down.
“I’m going to say it will be 2-1 to England because I think Odegaard or Haaland will score, but I think we’ll be a decent threat going forward in our own right, and the way the lads have been playing I feel that we can win that game,” he told Hajpar.

Danny Murphy backs England to beat Norway 3-1
Former England footballer Danny Murphy has backed England to beat Norway tonight 3-1.
Murphy thinks the Three Lions “can go all the way” in the World Cup and find a way against expected opponents Argentina, should both sides win.
“I can see the confidence growing. There’s a resilience and togetherness about this group that you need to win tournaments. As I see it now, I think England will get to the final.
“Argentina have shown in the last two games that they’re vulnerable defensively and I think England can beat them. Then, if it’s France or Spain in the final, when you’ve got 22 top-quality players on the pitch, it often comes down to who performs on the day.
“France would be difficult, Spain would be difficult, but I genuinely think England can get there.”

Not to dampen the mood, but kick-off may be pushed back.
Southern Florida is seeing temperatures rise to 32C, with it not expected to drop till at least 8pm local time.
FifPro, the global representative for professional footballers, advises that games should be delayed or postponed until the local temperature is at or below 28C.
The Three Lions’ last match was pushed back by an hour; touch wood, we are safe tonight.
John Stones expected to start with Ezri Konsa at right-back
Somewhat surprising news as John Stones is expected to start at centre-back alongside Marc Guehi, with Ezri Konsa at right-back.
The pair, who know Erling Haaland all too well, will partner, with Nico O’Reilly expected to start at left-back.
The decision may come as a little bit of a surprise given Konsa’s strong history in dealing with Haaland, only conceding once to the Norwegian in five games back in 2022.
There had been speculation as to whether Dan Burn would start given his incredible contribution in England’s last-16 clash, but the Newcastle defender will have to settle for the bench.
Interesting decision expected by Tuchel; full line-up confirmation in just under an hour.
