Scottie Scheffler’s incredible 1,428-day run has come to an end as the American star missed the cut at the Scottish Open.
The world No1 went 78 events without missing a cut, having not finished outside the top 25 in any tournament since 2024.
Renaissance Club proved too tricky for the American, who was in pursuit of his first win in Scotland ahead of the Open Championship next week.
But after a two-over 72 in the second round, he exits the competition on level par, with the cut mark at two under.
The last time Scheffler missed a cut was in 2022 at the FedEx St Jude Championship.
Matt Fitzpatrick now holds the longest streak of consecutive cuts at 28.
Speaking afterwards, Scheffler said: “It felt like nothing was going right. I didn’t really feel like I played that bad. This golf course can be just tough at times. There’s some humps and mounds out there.
“It’s a little different now with some of the signature events not having cuts. But I don’t think I finished outside of the top 20 or something like that many times this year.

“So I’m definitely proud of the consistency and wish I had a couple of days over the weekend to make up some ground.”
Scheffler shot 68 in round one, setting him up to challenge at the top, but he made a poor start with bogeys on 11 and 12.
The American managed a couple of birdies, but these were countered by two more bogeys on a frustrating day for Scheffler.
The world No1 did not confirm whether he will be back next year as he begins preparing for the final major of 2026.

He said: “This is a golf course I feel like I can play well on. I just haven’t for some reason. I think this is my second missed cut here.
“It’s funny. Last year, I got really frustrated on this golf course playing some good golf and just not really able to get anything going as well. Then I went and played well at The Open Championship.
“So it’s suiting me well over the years. I haven’t played well here, but I’ve played pretty well at The Open.
“I’ll reflect on that kind of at the end of the year and assess what my plans are going into next season.”
