Horse racing icon Frankie Dettori is receiving treatment in hospital after sustaining multiple fractures in a road traffic collision in Newmarket on Wednesday evening.
The 55-year-old legendary jockey suffered several broken ribs along with a fractured thumb when his vehicle was involved in the serious incident in the Suffolk town.
Medical staff continue to assess his condition, with the Italian-born rider remaining under observation while undergoing additional scans.
His management company, H Talent Management, confirmed the news earlier today, stating that doctors are still evaluating the full extent of his injuries following the crash on 1st July.

According to the statement released by H Talent Management, a second vehicle collided with the rear passenger side of the car Dettori was driving, which sent it into a spin before flipping over.
Emergency crews were dispatched to the scene of the incident in Newmarket, the historic headquarters of British horse racing where the former champion jockey has long-standing connections.
Paramedics transported him to hospital following the collision, where medical professionals discovered the extent of his injuries.
The management firm has not disclosed any information regarding the other driver involved or the specific circumstances that led to the crash occurring.
The statement from his representatives included Dettori’s personal gratitude for those who assisted him: “Frankie would like to thank the emergency services who attended the scene, together with the doctors, nurses and wider medical team caring for him.

“His focus is now on resting and recovering. H Talent Management respectfully asks that Frankie’s privacy is respected at this time. No further comment will be made until there is a meaningful update.”
The racing community has responded with an outpouring of support on social media, with fans and fellow professionals sending messages of goodwill to the three-time British flat racing Champion Jockey.
Dettori hung up his racing silks following a distinguished career that saw him accumulate more than 3,000 victories, including triumphs in the Epsom Derby and Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe.
His final competitive ride on British soil came at Ascot in October 2023, when he steered King Of Steel to victory in the Champion Stakes.
The celebrated rider had initially planned to retire at the conclusion of that season but continued competing in America for two further years before his farewell appearance at Gavea racecourse in Rio de Janeiro.
He had been confirmed for a one-off comeback at the Leger Legends charity race during Doncaster’s St Leger Festival in September, where he has ridden over 150 winners, but his participation now appears uncertain.
