Toby Greene has joined Zak Butters in a costly club, as the first two AFL players to amass more than $50,000 in tribunal fines.
The GWS captain was the only player booked from Saturday’s games. With an early plea, Greene can take a $1875 for striking Carlton’s Nic Newman.
Unless the Giants successfully take the charge to the tribunal, that will mean Greene has coughed up a whopping $50,725 in fines over his 275 games.

Butters’ latest fine earlier this season took the Port Adelaide firebrand to being $51,125 overall out of pocket.
Not that either player would be comparing, but the Power star has Greene well-covered, given his shorter career.
In 153 games, Butters has been suspended twice and sanctioned 22 times.
Greene has the most charges in VFL/AFL history at 32. He has been suspended for 16 games as he heads towards 300 matches.
