A hearty bánh mì and can turn any ordinary workday into something worth looking forward to, and that’s exactly what Midday Eatery is all about. Famous for their succulent and flavour-packed dumplings, Phat Head Dumplings are thinking outside the wrapper with their newest food venture that’s sure to liven up the local lunch landscape.
After husband and wife owners, Daniel and Rosy, realised there was nowhere for workers to enjoy a convenient lunch in Beverley, where their food trucks are based, the idea for Midday Eatery was born.
“That’s where it stemmed from … we realised the community was lacking here and we really wanted to give something back”, says Daniel.

Think golden-crusted and bánh mìs, nourishing rice bowls and rich homemade cheesecakes. The mouth-watering menu is intentionally concise, allowing the duo to serve up dishes that are bursting with bold and authentic Vietnamese flavours in every bite.
In today’s world, lunch breaks are often competing with hectic schedules and back-to-back meetings. Daniel and Rosy are hoping to give customers quick, filling meals that cater to life on the go without skimping on the flavours that make a great lunch memorable.
They aim to build an approachable, welcoming vibe and “create a warm space to give people a break from their mundane days.”
For Daniel and Rosy, the eatery is more than a business venture, it’s a chance for them to expand beyond the confines of dumplings and establish a new home base after years on the road. Since the closure of their Semaphore dumpling and noodle store in 2023, Phat Head have been popping up around South Australian events maintaining their local following and remaining a true local favourite. Daniel admits that mobile catering can be a difficult business, demanding a significant amount of travel and time spent away from their family.

With their children now a little older, Daniel and Rosy are ready to put down roots and open a permanent home in Midday Eatery. The cafe is Daniel and Rosy’s heartfelt ‘thank you’ to the customers who have followed them from food trucks to festivals and everywhere in between. As this new chapter begins, the duo are excited to welcome both familiar regulars and first-time customers through the door.
“We want to give people the best value and the best product we can.”
Midday is set to officially open for business on Monday June 29, and you can find them nestled on the corner of Howard Road and Pegler Street in Beverley.
