Sky News Australia rebrand locked in as News24 moves ahead

Sky News Australia is pressing ahead with its long planned transformation into News24, confirming the rebrand will officially launch on 27 July despite ongoing scrutiny over the new identity.

First revealed in February, the News24 rebrand will bring a revamped website and app, expanded international coverage and a broader suite of television, streaming and digital services.

The launch also proceeds despite discussion surrounding the choice of the News24 name, which shares a similar name with the ABC’s long running ABC News channel, formerly branded ABC News 24, as well as several international news organisations.

From 27 July, Sky News Australia’s existing broadcast channels, streaming products and digital assets will transition to the News24 brand, marking the biggest change in the network’s 30 year history.

Paul Whittaker, Chief Executive Officer of Sky News Australia, said the rebrand reflects the network’s evolution into a multi platform news business while maintaining its commitment to live coverage and commentary.

“Our inherent entrepreneurial spirit and unwavering commitment to bring our viewers the news live as it happens remains unchanged, and I look forward to launching News24 in the coming weeks, as we embark on this exciting next chapter.”

While the branding is changing, viewers will continue to see the network’s familiar lineup of presenters and opinion programs, including Credlin, The Bolt Report and Paul Murray Live, alongside rolling news, sport and weather coverage.

The launch will also introduce News24 World, a dedicated international news channel. News24 Weather and FOX SPORTS News will continue as part of the network’s broader offering.

The changes extend beyond television, with the launch of the News24 Australia app, a redesigned News24.com.au website and expanded streaming options across four dedicated channels.

News24 will also remain available across Foxtel, BINGE, regional free to air television, FAST channels, YouTube, podcasts and DAB+ radio in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

The network will also expand its international reporting later this year, opening a London bureau in November. Current Asia Correspondent Staś Butler will relocate to become News24’s first Senior Europe Correspondent, complementing existing bureaus in Washington, Taiwan and Wellington.

The News24 brand officially launches across all platforms on Monday 27 July.
