Haiku for 2026 [No. 21. Daoine Roimh Bhrabús! People Before Profit!]

The perverse nature of our Capitalist society means that whilst the actual bed of Loch nEathach is owned by the 12th Earl of Shaftesbury, the very waters of the Loch, whose name means “Eachaidh’s lake”, and upon which we and wildlife rely for our survival, are poisoning and killing people and animals!

(I invite advice on the syllable count in my Irish Haiku)

Daoine roimh bhrabús!

Tá Loch nEathach ag fáil bháis!

“Uisce na beatha”?
