Two minor children drowned after accidentally falling into a farm pond at Togarihatti village in Doddaballapur taluk on Sunday.
The victims were identified as Daksha, 11, and her younger brother Dhanush. 4. According to the police, the children had gone out to play while their parents were away. During this time, they accidentally fell into an agricultural pond and drowned.
The incident has left the family devastated, and relatives and villagers gathered to mourn the untimely loss of the young siblings.
Police officials stated that the pond belongs to a local farmer, Gurumurthy. Preliminary investigations revealed that the pond lacked protective fencing and other essential safety measures. Based on these findings, a case has been registered against the owner at the Doddaballapur Rural Police Station. Further investigation is under way.
This tragedy is the latest in a series of drowning incidents involving children in farm ponds, lakes, water tanks, and sumps across Karnataka. The incident has once again drawn attention to the safety hazards posed by unsecured water bodies in rural areas.
