A 65-year-old rock climber from Maine was rescued Tuesday after falling on Cannon Cliff in New Hampshire.
Crews responded to the cliff in Franconia at about 10 a.m. for a report of an injured climber, according to the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department.
“The information provided indicated that a climber was injured when a rock he was climbing was dislodged from the cliff, causing him to fall,” officials said.
The rescue crews reached him at about noon and carried him down in a litter to the parking lot, arriving shortly after 2 p.m. He was then taken to Littleton Regional Hospital for treatment.
“Thankfully, [his] climbing equipment worked well, which likely prevented more serious injuries,” officials said.
