The former Tour de France stage winner joins SBS’s established cycling team, bringing first hand insight from the sport’s biggest races after announcing his retirement from professional cycling earlier this year.

Ewan won five Tour de France stages during his career and was widely regarded as one of the world’s premier sprinters.

Coverage from France will again be led by Matthew Keenan and David McKenzie, who celebrate 20 years of calling the Tour for Australian audiences. Dr Bridie O’Donnell and Simon Gerrans will also provide expert analysis across the three week event.

The 2026 Tour de France promises plenty of storylines, with reigning superstar Tadej Pogačar chasing a fifth title that would place him among the race’s all time greats.

Australian hopes will also rest with riders including Jai Hindley, Ben O’Connor, Michael Storer and Luke Durbridge in his final professional season.

Meanwhile, the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift returns for its fifth edition, featuring a record breaking 1,175 kilometre route across Switzerland and France.

In a statement, SBS Director of Sport Ken Shipp said the broadcaster was proud to continue delivering cycling’s biggest races to Australian audiences.

“Few sporting events match the scale, drama and emotion of the Tour de France and Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift.”

He said every stage brings its own story, from mountain climbs and tactical attacks to sprint finishes, with SBS continuing its long standing commitment to live and free coverage of the events.
