The Tall Ships are sailing back into Boston Harbor from July 11th through July 16th, and if you’re looking for the best spot to catch the action, we’ve got you covered.
The biggest event of the week is the Parade of Sail on Saturday, July 11th, when dozens of tall ships from around the world make their grand entrance into Boston Harbor. The parade runs from approximately 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is expected to draw huge crowds.
Best Places to Watch
Castle Island
Castle Island is expected to be one of the best viewing locations in the city. Grab a lawn chair, pack some snacks, and settle in for front-row views as the ships enter the harbor.
Seaport District
Fan Pier, the Harborwalk, and waterfront parks throughout the Seaport will offer incredible views of the ships sailing by. Plus, you’ll be close to restaurants and bars for a post-parade celebration.
Boston Waterfront & Long Wharf
If you want to be right in the middle of the action, head downtown to Long Wharf, Rowes Wharf, or Christopher Columbus Park. These locations provide great vantage points as the ships move through the harbor.
Charlestown Navy Yard
The ships will turn near Charlestown Navy Yard before heading to their berths, making this another prime viewing location.
East Boston Waterfront
Piers Park and other Eastie waterfront spots offer panoramic views back toward the city skyline and the fleet.
Bonus Tip: Many of the ships will remain docked along the waterfront through July 16th and will be open for free public tours. So if you miss the parade, you’ll still have plenty of opportunities to get up close to these floating beauties.
This is the first Tall Ships event in Boston since 2017, and it promises to be one of the biggest events of the summer. Start planning now—those waterfront spots will fill up fast so get there early.
