Drake Maye’s first annual softball game is set for Sunday afternoon at Polar Park in Worcester. The star quarterback assembled a star-studded lineup for the event, including celebrities, Boston sports stars past and present, and more, for the charity event.
Patriots coaches Mike Vrabel and Josh McDaniels will participate as the skippers for each respective team, Team Patriots and Team Sox. The biggest names involved in the event are former Super Bowl MVP Julian Edelman, former Bruins captain and Stanley Cup champion Zdeno Chara, and comedians Matt Rife and Dave Portnoy.
“It’ll be fun. It’ll be awesome. It’ll be a lot of people, hopefully,” Maye said earlier in the week of the event. “We’ve got some fireworks after. I haven’t hit a softball, so hopefully some of the guys on the team will be hitting and hopefully get some home runs or maybe some strikeouts. It should be fun.”
The game will be played to raise money for Maye’s own charity, the MayeDay foundation, which helps support children and families facing hardship.
