Adelaide is heading into a cooler, wetter stretch, with showers building from Friday and sticking around well into next week as a series of changes move across South Australia.
Today is the quietest day in the outlook for Adelaide, with cloudy skies, the chance of morning fog and just a slight risk of a light shower. Light winds and a top of 18 degrees will keep things fairly calm across the city, with similar conditions through the suburbs from Elizabeth to Glenelg, Mount Barker and Noarlunga.
By Friday, the pattern starts to shift as a cold front crosses the south. Adelaide is forecast to stay cloudy, with showers becoming much more likely in the afternoon and evening. Temperatures will edge up only slightly to 19 degrees, while winds turn north to northwesterly before swinging west to northwesterly through the middle of the day.
Saturday looks set to be the wettest day of the weekend in Adelaide, with a very high chance of showers and a cool top of 18 degrees.
Sunday will stay unsettled, though a little lighter, with a partly cloudy sky, a high chance of showers and a top of 17 degrees.
The early part of next week brings another notable change. Monday is shaping up as the warmest day in the seven-day outlook, reaching 21 degrees, but it also comes with the wettest forecast. Showers are expected, rain chances sit at 100 per cent, and there’s also the chance of a thunderstorm later in the day as winds strengthen and turn northwesterly. Between 7 and 20mm of rain is possible, so commuters and anyone planning outdoor activities should keep a close eye on updates.
Tuesday continues that run of active weather, with another very high chance of showers, the chance of a thunderstorm and a cooler top of 18 degrees. Rainfall could again be significant, with 6 to 20mm forecast.
By Wednesday, Adelaide remains under a showery pattern, with partly cloudy conditions, a top of 17 degrees and more showers likely as westerly winds tend northwesterly during the day. After a fairly gentle start today, the city is looking at a run of damp, cool days that will make the first week of June feel properly wintry.
