As US Secretary of State Marco Rubio began his India visit, Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) senior adviser Richard Rossow described the trip as coming at a âfascinating timeâ for India-US relations, with issues such as a possible trade deal, tariffs, the Middle East crisis and growing Quad cooperation expected to dominate discussions.
Rossow also said Rubioâs planned stop in Kolkata underlined the need for senior American leaders to engage beyond traditional centres like Delhi and Mumbai, and gain a deeper understanding of the growing political and economic role played by Indiaâs states.
