First look and Australian premiere details for football drama DEAR ENGLAND

Joseph Fiennes leads the four part series as Gareth Southgate, charting the pressure, politics and penalty shootout trauma behind England’s modern football era ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup™.

Secured through Foxtel Group’s expanded multi-year agreement with Sony Pictures Television last year, the series follows Southgate’s attempts to rebuild England’s football culture after decades of disappointment on the world stage.

BINGE has released the official trailer for the fictionalised drama locally, which draws from extensive research and interviews surrounding Southgate’s tenure leading the England men’s national team.

Fiennes reprises the role he first played on stage, joined by Jodie Whittaker as team psychologist Pippa Grange and Will Antenbring as captain Harry Kane.

The wider ensemble cast includes Jason Watkins, John Hodgkinson, Daniel Ryan and Sam Spruell, alongside actors portraying football stars including Marcus Rashford, Bukayo Saka, Jude Bellingham and Wayne Rooney.

The trailer teases the intense scrutiny surrounding the national side, from media pressure and dressing room tensions to England’s infamous relationship with penalties.

James Graham adapted the series from his Olivier Award winning play of the same name, while Rupert Goold returns after directing the original stage production to helm the opening episode.

Paul Whittington directs episodes two to four, with the series produced by Left Bank Pictures, the company behind The Crown.

Dear England premieres with double episodes on May 28 and June 4 on BINGE and Foxtel On Demand, with Foxtel subscribers also able to watch the premiere on Showcase at 8.30pm on May 28.
