10 again revives SPORTS TONIGHT within Late News bulletin

Everything old is new again at Network 10, with the broadcaster taking another swing at reviving Sports Tonight as part of its recently expanded Late News bulletin.

Returning later this month within 10’s Late News, the refreshed Sports Tonight will be led by Melbourne based Adrian Franklin and Adelaide based Max Burford, joining Ursula Heger as part of the national bulletin, mixing traditional sports coverage with lighter late night energy and viral moments from across the sporting world.

The revival marks the latest comeback for the iconic sports program, which originally launched in 1993 before returning in 2018 as a standalone weeknight panel show fronted by Matt White alongside rotating panellists, before later evolving into a once a week format under Scott Mackinnon and Roz Kelly.

This new version will sit as a dedicated segment inside 10’s Late News rather than as a standalone nightly program.

Network 10 says the segment will cover major local and international sporting headlines, analysis and the unpredictable moments that dominate timelines and group chats by the next morning.

Martin White, Vice President News at Paramount Australia, said the success of 10’s Late News helped drive the decision to bring dedicated sports coverage back into the mix.

“Much loved 10 News brand Sports Tonight is the perfect fit for the relaxed, late night feel of the show, and I know the team will do a great job.”

The network also revealed that during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, for which it holds exclusive Australian rights, Sports Tonight will expand into a weekly 30 minute edition focused on tournament coverage.

Following the World Cup, the segment will continue evolving with the addition of football magazine show The Weekly Kick-Off and regular UFC coverage, with the combat sports giant now airing across Paramount+ Australia and select broadcasts on 10.

Sports Tonight returns within 10’s Late News from Monday, 25 May on Network 10 and 10 Streaming.
