Pakistan fast bowler Shaheen Afridi reached a major career milestone after taking his 400th international wicket during the first Test against Bangladesh at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
The left-arm pacer achieved the landmark on the fourth day of the ongoing Test when he dismissed Bangladesh batter Mominul Haque. With the wicket, Shaheen became only the fifth Pakistan fast bowler and ninth Pakistan bowler overall to reach 400 international wickets.
Shaheen also joined some of Pakistan’s greatest fast bowlers, including Imran Khan, Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis, among the country’s leading wicket-takers in international cricket.
The 25-year-old reached the milestone in his 211th international appearance and moved to ninth place on Pakistan’s all-time list of highest wicket-takers across Tests, ODIs and T20Is.

Earlier in the same Test, Shaheen also achieved a major ICC World Test Championship milestone. On the opening day, the ODI skipper became the first Pakistani bowler to complete 100 wickets in the competition.
Afridi reached that landmark after dismissing Bangladesh opener Mahmudul Hasan Joy during the opening day’s play.
With the achievement, the 26-year-old also became only the 19th bowler overall to claim 100 or more wickets in the World Test Championship, further strengthening his position as Pakistan’s leading wicket-taker in the tournament.
