Drew Allar got closer than any Penn State quarterback since 1994 to a National Championship in Happy Valley. Now — he’s staying in Pennsylvania — being drafted in the third round with the 76th selection to the Pittsburgh Steelers. His focus will now be on bringing Pennsylvania another Super Bowl victory.

Northeast High School, Texas A&M and Nebraska standout Elijah Jeudy was not selected last week at the 2026 NFL Draft. His former teammate — Tyreek Chappell was selected by the Minnesota Vikings. Designated as a (consensus) three-star recruit by major media outlets (247 Sports, Rivals, and ESPN), Chappell allowed a mere two completions against him out of 41 attempts as a junior at Northeast High School in 2019. As a Sophomore, Chappell was in the top ten in the SEC in pass breakups.

Additionally — Duke and former St. Joe’s Prep wide receiver Sahmir Hagans joined the Colts, Downingtown West and Penn State’s Drew Shelton was taken in the fourth round, Neumann Goretti linebacker Eric Gentry is now a Cincinnati Bengal, and Ayden Garnes formerly of Bonner-Prendie joins Tampa Bay.

Philly may be making headlines as a treasure trove of national basketball talent — as well as emerging once again as a top recruitment hub for baseball — but we are a football town at heart. Last season — Drew Allar’s Penn State Nittany Lions — complete with Philly talent helping to a 3–0 start — Penn State kicked off its season where they left off for most of 2024 with Imhotep Charter’s Mylachi Williams, Jabree Coleman, and Tyseer Denmark among other Philly connections who helped to routed the Nevada Wolfpack and quarterback Chubba Purdy by a final score of 46–11 — including three takeaways and 438 yards of total offense.

For talent like that around Philly — roster adjustments and injuries during the spring and summer mean that NFL teams are always looking to add in positions of need.

Meaning that Elijah Jeudy — may have plenty of opportunity remaining to play in the NFL.
