Vladyslav Rudniev claimed the main event title at UAE Warriors 71 after a first-round submission win over Marton Mezhlumyan in Abu Dhabi.
The Ukrainian beat Armenia’s Mezhlumyan at Space 42 Arena in Al Raha Beach on Saturday night, closing the headline bout early and adding another international name to the UAE Warriors roll call.
Sheikh Zayed bin Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan presented the trophy to Rudniev after the fight.
Abdulmunem Al Hashemi, chairman of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, president of the Jiu-Jitsu Asian Union and senior vice president of the International Jiu-Jitsu Federation, attended the event.
Saleh Mohamed Al Geziry, director general for tourism at the Department of Culture and Tourism Abu Dhabi, was also present.
The card featured 10 bouts and included the “Proud of the Emirates” fan activation.
In the co-main event, Zimbabwe’s Sylvester Chipfumbu beat Albania’s Vilson Ndregjoni by judges’ decision in the featherweight division.
The result gave Chipfumbu a title win on a night that again placed Abu Dhabi at the centre of the regional MMA calendar.
