Police in Georgetown took to Facebook Tuesday to report an unusual incident in which “officers on patrol were quickly overtaken by a suspect” — who happened to have four legs and a mane.
“That suspect was Jacob the Horse, out for a midnight gallop and showing absolutely no regard for posted speed limits,” police reported, opining that the loose steed “appeared to be training for next year’s [Kentucky] Derby.”
Declaring “BREAKING NEWS FROM BALDPATE ROAD,” Georgetown police wrote:
Officers ultimately collared Jacob and issued a stern reprimand and citation. The citation was immediately ingested. Witnesses report that Jacob remained completely unfazed, maintaining his usual expression of mild boredom mixed with hay-related anticipation.
Police report that the horse was returned safely to his owners, but that “the question of who unlocked the gate remains under investigation.”
