Up to 0,000 on offer for South Australia’s multicultural community groups

South Australia’s multicultural communities are set to benefit from a fresh round of government funding, with grants of up to $100,000 now available to help local organisations upgrade their facilities and purchase equipment.

The State Government has officially opened applications for its Expand Together infrastructure program, designed to support culturally and linguistically diverse communities across South Australia.

Announced by Multicultural Affairs Minister Nadia Clancy, the program aims to help community organisations grow, modernise, and continue serving as important cultural hubs.

Whether it’s upgrading a community hall, installing new equipment, or undertaking major infrastructure improvements, eligible organisations can apply for substantial support to bring their projects to life.

Funding is available across four categories, including equipment and infrastructure grants of up to $50,000, as well as larger grants between $50,001 and $100,000. Applications above $50,000 will require a co-contribution, and successful projects are expected to be delivered within 12 months.

The grants form part of the broader Expand Together initiative, one of three key funding streams supporting South Australia’s multicultural sector.

Previous recipients have already put the funding to excellent use. The Altavilla Irpina Sports and Social Club received support for a new roof, Multicultural Youth SA upgraded its equipment, and the Association of Ukrainians in South Australia enhanced its stage and audio capabilities.

“Multicultural groups throughout South Australia are a real focal point for communities and the Malinauskas Government recognises the important role they play in supporting people to come together and celebrate their language, traditions and culture,” shared Minister Clancy.

“It’s important the halls and other venues that host these groups are properly resourced and in good working order, and this grant program is aimed at doing just that.

“I encourage groups to work out what they need and apply for funding before the 31 July deadline.”

South Australia is home to people from more than 200 culturally, linguistically, and religiously diverse backgrounds, making these community organisations a vital part of the state’s social fabric.

From cultural festivals and language schools to sporting clubs and community gatherings, these spaces help build connection, belonging, and celebration across generations. For community groups looking to grow, improve, and continue supporting their members, this could be the perfect opportunity.
