One thing is for sure: Mary Kay Cabot isn’t holding back after NFL safety and Shedeur Sanders’ brother, Shilo, responded to her take on the Cleveland Browns’ quarterback situation with a sexist remark.
The comments made by Sanders have rubbed many the wrong way. Sanders responded to a post that featured some of Cabot’s recent take on the Browns’ quarterback competition, saying they should declare Deshaun Watson the starter over Shilo’s brother, Shedeur.

Clearly, he wasn’t happy about this, commenting, “Go make a sandwich Mary,” under the post and captured by Anthony Lima on X, formerly Twitter.
While making an appearance on 92.3 The Fan, Cabot responded to Sanders. While not necessarily firing back at Sanders, Cabot knows the impact she’s had on women in her field. She won’t let Sanders’ comments deter her from continuing to do her job.
“I really do believe that I have been an inspiration for lots of women and young girls to know that you can go out there and do a good job in a man’s world and take on all of that that comes with that, and I know there are so many women who have joined the football world especially because of some of the things that I’ve been able to do over the years, and I’m happy about that,” Cabot said.”I know that will continue. Now we’ve got women playing flag football, and I’m just happy that I have been able to help set the tone and open some doors in that way.”

The conversation surrounding the Browns’ quarterback battle will continue into the summer. Sanders went undrafted in the 2025 NFL Draft before signing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. However, he was released as part of the final roster cuts in August. He has yet to find a home with another team.
His younger brother, Shedeur, was drafted in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft by the Browns. He started seven games in 2025, winning three of them, and passed for 1,400 yards, seven touchdowns, and 10 interceptions.
