Authorities in Sindh have intensified enforcement against tenants and landlords who fail to complete mandatory registration, warning that non-compliance could result in arrest and imprisonment.
Under the new measures, living in a rented property without proper registration may lead to serious legal consequences. Both tenants and property owners could face jail time if they do not comply with registration requirements.
As part of a broader crackdown on temporary residents, the South Karachi District Police registered 39 cases and arrested 54 individuals.
According to official data, Saddar police recorded 8 cases and arrested 15 individuals, the highest among the stations. Clifton police also registered 8 cases, leading to 10 arrests, while Defense police arrested 8 individuals.
Police officials have reiterated that registration is mandatory for both tenants and landlords. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) South Mahzoor Ali stated that actions against unregistered individuals will be further intensified.
Authorities have urged all tenants and property owners to ensure compliance with registration requirements to avoid legal action.
