More than 100 people took part in an open beach workout in Dubai led by former England defender Rio Ferdinand and his wife Kate Ferdinand.
The session brought together a mixed crowd for a morning of group exercise by the coast. Participants joined in with a range of fitness drills, including push-ups and other group activities, in an event aimed at getting more people moving.
Rio Ferdinand spent time with those in attendance during the workout, speaking with participants and joining in with the session.
Kate Ferdinand said the event was part of her work in health and wellness, with a focus on physical and mental balance through movement. She also said it would be the first in a wider series of similar activities.
Rio said the idea behind the session was to encourage people to stay active and find ways to deal with the pressures of daily life, particularly at a time when many spend long hours sitting at work. He said exercise can help both physical health and mental wellbeing.
The event ended with the couple meeting attendees and posing for photographs, as the beach workout offered a simple reminder of how public fitness events can help build community as well as healthier habits.
