Adelaide commuters are facing a temporary suspension of services on the Flinders rail line, set to impact late-morning travel.
Adelaide Metro has announced that trains will be paused between 10:30am and 1:30pm to allow crews to carry out essential repairs following a technical issue. During this period, services will not operate between Woodlands Park Railway Station and Flinders Railway Station.
To minimise disruption, substitute buses will run along the affected route, stopping at all stations and making sure passengers can continue their journeys as smoothly as possible. While delays may occur, the replacement services aim to keep Adelaide’s southern suburbs connected throughout the temporary closure.
The scheduled pause will enable maintenance crews to safely complete vital works that cannot be undertaken while trains are operating within the rail corridor. These repairs are essential to maintaining the safety, reliability and efficiency of the network, ensuring passengers can travel with confidence in the future.
Normal train services are expected to resume from 2:04pm, just in time for the busy afternoon peak. This timing is designed to reduce inconvenience for commuters heading home from work and university later in the day.
Adelaide Metro has thanked passengers for their patience and understanding while the works are carried out, acknowledging that temporary interruptions can be frustrating but are necessary to maintain high service standards across the network.
Travellers are encouraged to check their routes before departing and allow extra time for their journeys. For real-time updates, passengers can visit the Adelaide Metro website or sign up for personalised service alerts to stay informed about changes affecting their regular routes.
So whether you’re commuting to work, heading to class or travelling across the city, planning ahead will help ensure a smoother trip. With services set to return this afternoon, Adelaide’s public transport network will be back on track in time for the evening rush.
