Central Coast Mariners midfielder Peta Trimis has earned the wildcard nomination for the 2025-26 Young Footballer of the Year award in the Ninja A-League.
The 20-year-old central midfielder is the seventh and final player to be nominated for the award in 2024-25, joining the six monthly nominees.
Melbourne City’s Shelby McMahon was nominated for the month of November whilst Brisbane Roar’s Grace Kuilamu and Daisy Brown received the nominations for December and January respectively.

Newcastle Jets’ Emma Dundas scooped the February nomination before Wellington Phoenix gun Pia Vlok then took home the final regular season nomination in March/April.
The monthly nominees are selected throughout the Ninja A-League season by a panel of technical football experts and media representatives, who vote on a 3-2-1 basis at the conclusion of each nominated monthly period throughout the season.
At the conclusion of the regular season, the six monthly nominees are joined in the running for Young Footballer of the Year by a wildcard selection.
The player who receives the most cumulative votes over the course of the season but does not receive a monthly nomination, earns the wildcard nomination for the award.

Trimis now takes her place on the Young Footballer of the Year shortlist alongside her six fellow Ninja A-League rising stars.

Trimis made 18 appearances for the Mariners this season (all starts), a tally that saw her rank fourth when it came to matches played for her side this campaign.
Furthermore, Trimis also finished as the Mariners’ second top scorer this campaign behind Annalise Rasmussen (11) after she registered an impressive five goals and four assists from 1,567 minutes played.
