Adelaide is heading into a fairly settled autumn week, with cool days, light winds and only a small chance of showers before slightly warmer conditions return by the weekend.
For most of Monday, the city can expect partly cloudy skies and a top of 21 degrees, with just a slight chance of a shower. It’s a gentle start to the week, and that quieter pattern is set to stick around across Adelaide for the next few days.
Tuesday looks much the same, with another top of 21 degrees, patchy cloud and the chance of morning fog in the northern suburbs. There’s also a slight chance of a light morning shower, but totals are expected to be minimal.
By Wednesday, things improve a little more, with mostly sunny skies and a top of 22 degrees forecast for the city. Morning fog may again affect northern suburbs early, but overall it shapes up as one of the brighter days of the week.
Thursday continues that run of mild autumn weather, with mostly sunny conditions and a top of 22 degrees. A slight chance of an evening shower lingers for the southern suburbs, while winds will become a little more noticeable, shifting west to northwesterly during the morning before turning south to southwesterly in the afternoon.
Friday brings a similar story, with a slight chance of a morning shower before skies clear into a mostly sunny afternoon. Adelaide is expected to reach 21 degrees, with light winds becoming southeast to southwesterly during the day.
From there, the weekend looks especially pleasant. Saturday is set to be sunny and warmer, climbing to 24 degrees as northeasterly winds pick up through the morning. Sunday will turn partly cloudy, with a top of 23 degrees and winds shifting from north to northeasterly before turning west to northwesterly during the day.
Across the state, the broader picture is being shaped by a high pressure system south of the Bight moving slowly northeast, while a series of fronts brushes the southeast on Wednesday and Thursday. That means much of South Australia will stay dry and on the cool side, especially through the start of the week, with maximum temperatures generally below average. Patchy morning fog is likely about the agricultural area on Monday through Wednesday, which could make for reduced visibility on early morning roads.
The best chance of rainfall remains in southern parts of the state, particularly southern coastal fringes and the Lower South East. Showers are expected to stay fairly isolated for many areas, though the Lower South East should see more persistent falls from Wednesday into Thursday. Rainfall totals to the end of Thursday are expected to stay low across most districts, with up to 2 mm in much of the southern agricultural area, increasing to 2 to 10 mm about the southern coasts and ranges, and possibly 5 to 15 mm about the Lower South East coast. Further north, it’s a sunnier outlook, with dry conditions likely to continue.
Have a great start to the week!
