Lahore Qalandars Announce Replacement for Injured Bangladesh Star in PSL 11

Defending champions Lahore Qalandars have announced Charith Asalanka, a Sri Lankan batting all-rounder, as the replacement for Parvez Hossain Emon for the remainder of Pakistan Super League (PSL 11).

The move comes after Bangladeshi wicketkeeper-batter Parvez Hossain Emon was ruled out with a shoulder injury sustained during Lahore Qalandars’ recent match against Multan Sultans in Lahore. The injury occurred following an on-field collision with Asif Ali and resulted in a ligament tear, ending Emon’s participation after three appearances this season.

Asalanka, a left-handed batter who also offers part-time off-spin, brings considerable international experience, having represented Sri Lanka across all formats. His inclusion is expected to provide stability and depth to Lahore’s middle order as the franchise enters the final stretch of the competition.

He is scheduled to join the squad ahead of their upcoming fixture against Quetta Gladiators on April 17.

Lahore’s campaign so far has been inconsistent, with the team currently sitting sixth on the table after securing two wins from five matches. Their most recent outing further highlighted their struggles, as they suffered a heavy defeat against Peshawar Zalmi, being bowled out for 97 in 17 overs while chasing a target of 174.

Batting first, Peshawar Zalmi posted 173 for 7 in 20 overs. Kusal Mendis led the scoring with 74 off 48 balls, including five fours and four sixes. Babar Azam added 43 off 40 balls, while Michael Bracewell contributed a quick 21 off 10 deliveries.

In response, Lahore struggled to build momentum. Fakhar Zaman and Abdullah Shafique scored 21 runs each, while Dunith Wellalage added 20. The team was dismissed for under 100.

Zalmi captain Shaheen Afridi led the bowling effort with figures of 3 for 22 in four overs. Bracewell and Sufiyan Muqeem claimed three wickets each, while Mustafizur Rahman took two. Ubaid Shah, Usama Mir, Nahid Rana, Shoriful Islam, and Aamer Jamal each took one wicket.
