A woman has drowned at a popular outback swimming spot despite desperate efforts to save her.
The incident happened at Ellery Creek Big Hole, west of Alice Springs on Sunday afternoon.
Emergency Services received reports CPR was being performed on a 25-year-old woman at the tourist site.

St John Ambulance attended and took over life-saving efforts but she was unable to be revived.
Northern Territory Police established a crime scene, with the area closed to the public while detectives investigate.
