Cult lovers of a classic Italian sandwich spot in Prospect can now get their fix in Adelaide’s CBD.
Designed to suit city life, Fratelli Italian Deli opens its doors from 6am, catering to early risers in need of quality coffee and breakfast on the go.
In just over two years, Fratelli has cemented itself as Prospect’s go-to for Italian-inspired sandwiches, sweet treats and quality coffee. The sister store was opened by the same team behind the Prospect favourite — Renee and Johnny Chaptini, alongside couple Nissrine Daher and Paul Skounos — the new venture also brings in business partner and Paul’s sister, Penny.
“We’re getting our regulars coming in, which is awesome,” Penny said. “We’re just wanting it to feel like a very warm and welcoming space.”
“The space is huge, there is so much room and we’ve had lots of business meetings here as well.”
New features like charging points and laptop-friendly seating have made the venue on Wyatt Street appealing to students and workers looking for somewhere to settle in and knuckle down, with a sando in hand, of course.
Fans can expect all the Prospect favourites, including the cult-loved Chicken Alla Vodka, Tuna Melt and their signature coffee. But look out because they’ve also got some new grab-and-go options, including fresh salads, yoghurt parfaits and chia puddings.
In the two weeks since opening, some of the most popular items have been the ham and cheese croissants, the sausage and egg burger with Fratelli sauce, the cinnamon scrolls and the fresh salads.
“Our cinnamon scrolls as well, everyone’s just obsessed with [them],” Penny said.
She said some of the standout items so far have been the chia puddings, yoghurt parfaits and salads, with the chicken salad and broccoli salad both selling out regularly.
With a line already at the door earlier in the day, Penny said the city’s strong coffee culture was clear almost immediately. The morning coffee is a ritual for many city customers, making it especially important that Fratelli delivers a consistently high standard in every cup.
Alongside coffee, Penny said the matcha has become increasingly popular, particularly iced strawberry matcha and standard matcha drinks, which have quickly built a following with customers.
Coming into winter the italian deli will introduce hot soup options for those wanting to warm the sense on the chillier days in the city.
The family atmosphere that the team at Fratelli have built behind the counter and kitchen, flows out into the customers base, which beyond the sandos, is enough reason to keep coming back for more.
