5 best restaurant openings and dining updates (April 9, 2026)

In Greater Boston’s dining scene, there’s always a new restaurant opening to celebrate or a fresh update coming to one of the city’s delicious eateries. In the months ahead, we have major restaurant openings from Michelin chefs and famous New York restaurateurs, as well as a swell of diverse and delicious smaller restaurants joining our neighborhoods.

Each week, Boston.com will highlight the restaurant openings worth knowing about across the region. Some spots will already be open, while others are set to debut in 2026. At least one featured restaurant will always be a bonus item — either a pop-up, a collaboration, or event at area restaurants.

What’s new in Greater Boston restaurant openings this week

Beyond Proof

The selection of mocktails has widened across the city, and Boston even has non-alcoholic bottle shops. But Beyond Proof debuts as the city’s first zero-proof bar, taking over the space that was once home to Ten Tables, and opened by the former Ten Tables owner, Krista Kranyak. There isn’t a drink menu online yet, and according to an interview with The Boston Globe, Kranyak said the food menu focuses on Mediterranean and Middle Eastern dishes.

Mezo Mediterranean

From the team behind Dedham House of Pizza (and located just next door) comes a fast-fine dining restaurant in Dedham Square that serves Greek and Mediterranean cuisine. There are gyros and fries topped with feta for easy lunches, or lamb lollipops and stuffed eggplant entrees for sit-down dinners. Mezo also offers a list of Greek wines, beers, and the restaurant just started offering cocktails.

Ralph’s Coffee

Ralph Lauren’s coffee shop and cafe is coming to Boston with a permanent cafe space (next to a new Ralph Lauren store) — but not until later this year. For now, guests can order a bold Ralph’s roast, tea, or pastries at Ralph’s Coffee truck, open in the Seaport until mid-July. 

Opening date: Late 2026; Coffee truck open now

Virginia’s Cafe & Market

Grab a galão (latte) and linguica breakfast sandwich to go, or stay for a while with an Azorean tuna melt and a plate of Portuguese cheese at Reading’s new Portuguese-inspired cafe, open for breakfast and lunch. There are also daily baked goods available, like pastel de nata, and Virginia’s also operates as a market, selling bread and pantry items to take home.

Bonus: Island Creek Oyster raw bar pop-up

Another sign that warmer weather is near? Patios and outdoor bars are opening up again, and for a second year that includes the Island Creek Oyster raw bar pop-up in the Seaport. Starting in late April, Island Creek’s outdoor raw bar will offer guests its popular oysters, as well as caviar and tinned fish from their cannery. There are also new offerings this year, including tacos and caviar-topped hot dogs for food and frozen cocktails for drinks.
